The Grace Kelly Years, Princess of Monaco
From October 10 to December 7, 2008, the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation hosted “The Grace Kelly Years, Princess of Monaco” exhibition, which was organized by the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation together with Grimaldi Forum (Monaco). A unique album catalogue under the same title was issued for the exhibition opening.
The illustrated album recreates the exhibition structure and reflects all the periods of the Princess’s life in chronological order. The album contains the richest collection of photographs, the majority of them being published for the first time: amateur photos related to the childhood of Grace Kelly in Philadelphia, and first screen tests, as well as works by outstanding masters of fine art photography, who captured the movie star at the height of fame and the princess attending official ceremonies.
Princess Grace was widely recognized as a public figure and a patron of the arts. She was in correspondence with royalty, statesmen, and many famous people of her time, who were no strangers in the world of art. Private letters of Grace Kelly from Prince's Palace Archives (Monaco) were also included in the catalogue.
The catalogue also presents images of unique clothing from the Princess’s wardrobe, original accessories and jewelry. Grace Kelly managed to create an inimitable style, which to a great extent determined the development of fashion and design concepts of collections produced by leading companies.
The book assembles the most memorable utterances by Grace Kelly. They precede each series of photographs and illustrations related to this or that topic or event. As if Princess Grace herself tells us about her life – wittily, sincerely, and simply.
